On March 22, 2011, after two unsuccessful attempts, we finally managed to reach Gád, the former estate of the Gudenus barons, accessible only via a 17-kilometre muddy dirt road. János József Gudenus, a member of the baronial family who devoted his entire life to researching the past, visited the land of his ancestors for the first time at the age of 64.
